September 28, 2022
Ground Temperature: 32℃
Water Temperature: 26℃
Wind Direction: East southeast (5m/s)
Diving point (visibility)
☆ Osaki Purple Queen Reef, Ishigaki Island (12m)
☆ Sakieda Big Arch, Ishigaki Island (25m)
☆ Kabira Manta City, Ishigaki Island (20m)
It was sunny, with some thin clouds far away.
The water visibility around Osaki was not great, but the Green turtle didn’t mind 🙂
The low water visibility doesn’t matter for macro photography.
The water visibility around Sakieda, located just a bit up north from Osaki, was perfect!
There was plenty of sunlight in the arches.
But the corals around here are all gone…
The last visit here was the end of August, and we saw some good corals then.
But this time, good corals are almost all gone, and algae started to cover the white dead corals…
We had two typhoons in September that took down the water temperature from around 30C to 26C, but it was a bit too late.
It will take some years before the corals will come back, but they will be back!
For the afternoon dive, we went to Kabira Manta Point.
And we anchored the boat at the right spot!
It was only 1 minute to the cleaning station, and two mantas were already there when we arrived!
One of them disappeared soon after, but a new one came in.
The two then disappeared, but one more came back…
We saw their elegant swim for around 30min 🙂
Our guests today came to Ishigaki to see the mantas.
They saw one passing by yesterday, but glad you saw it long enough today!
Let’s enjoy autumn diving!
