Hateruma Island.

50km down southwest from Ishigaki, and is the southernmost inhabited island of Japan.

We usually come here 2-3 times a year, when the sea condition is calm (Hateruma is outside of Sekisei Lagoon, and we need to cruise outer sea).

This year, however, this was the first time today 🙂

We left early in the morning, and had a warm-up dive at Taketomi.

Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp – maybe it was too early for a free hand spa!

After the warm-up dive, we cruised a long way to Hateruma.

We were worried about the swells from Typhoon #16, but it wasn’t bad at all.

Visibility of over 40m…

It is just breathtaking.

So much sunlight deep in the water.

Check out the shadow of the divers!

Feels soooo goooood!!!

There are many first timers to Hateruma, even among repeaters to Ishigaki.

Mind your depth…

The water is so clear that you may not feel you are deep down, but actually you are!

Yeah, I would take the same shot!

Memorial shot at Hateruma Port is our routine here 🙂

Not sure if we can make another trip this year…

It was a long 2hr cruise back home.

A Red-footed Boody joined out trip on our way back, and showed us how they catch some fish 🙂

Looking forward to great dives tomorrow!
