The first dive of the day at Hateruma – lots of sea life as usual, and you will always find something new!
There still were lots of Luminous cardinalfish around the reef here!
Then we cruised down to Hateruma – southernmost manned island of Japan.
Hateruma is located approximately 50km southwest from Ishigaki, and takes about 1.5hr by Blue Swan. As we cruise outer sea, we can only go there when the condition is very calm.
As you get closer to Hateruma, you will start to see lots of Brown boody flying around. It is a big bird that is a little over 1m in width when it spreads its wings. As we cruise fast on the water, some fish like flying fish jumps out of the water. The birds are aiming for them, and fly around the boat as we cruise.
Although they are quite aggressive birds, they look cute 🙂
Hateruma could have been better…
Although the water was blue enough with 30m visibility, it could go 40-50m in good times!
Thank you all for joining our cruise today, but hope you will have another chance to see the true Hateruma blue!
